Responsible gaming

Edgely offers informational sports analysis. Betting can be entertainment, but it can also become addictive. These are warning signs, tips and help resources.

Warning signs

  • You bet more money than you can afford to lose.
  • You chase losses by betting more to recover.
  • You lie to family or friends about how much you bet.
  • You feel anxious, irritable or sad when you can't bet.
  • You've neglected work, relationships or health because of betting.

Tips to bet sensibly

Set a monthly betting budget (bankroll) separate from your living money. If you lose it, you stop until next month.

Set a maximum time per day/week. Betting shouldn't displace other important activities.

Don't bet under the influence of alcohol, drugs, extreme stress or strong emotions. Decisions get worse.

Track your actual bets (not just the ones you won). Without honest tracking you can't know if you're winning or losing long-term.

Help lines

If you think you have a gambling problem, or know someone who does, seek professional help. It's confidential and free.
